It started with paint
Jorge started out as a painter. One trade led to the next, and the work kept growing.
Years later, Adonay came up the same way: painting first, then drywall, then running the whole job.
A family foundation, a hands-on contractor, and one close-knit team from the first drawings to the final walkthrough.
Long before NewGen had a name or a license, Adonay was on job sites watching his father, Jorge, work.
Jorge started out as a painter. One trade led to the next, and the work kept growing.
Years later, Adonay came up the same way: painting first, then drywall, then running the whole job.
In time, Jorge was running crews of his own, with years of work across Coronado.
Anyone who worked beside him learned hands-on. If something was not right, it got redone until it was.
Jorge also taught trade workshops to students.
Knowing the work meant passing it on. First to the crews, then to students, and eventually to his own son.
Jorge set the standard. Adonay carries it forward.
Adonay grew up on job sites. Painting came first, then drywall, then running jobs. In 2019, the business side started taking shape. Today Adonay leads NewGen as a California General B contractor, able to carry a project from planning and permitting through construction.
And he stays involved.
When you call NewGen, you are not handed off to a salesperson. Adonay comes out to the property, talks through the project with you, and stays reachable throughout the work. Remodeling questions do not always happen between 9 and 5, and homeowners should be able to reach the person actually responsible for their project.
Every estimate starts with a free in-person walkthrough. We measure the space, look at existing conditions, talk through what you want to change, and put the scope into writing. If something changes once work begins, you know what it costs and approve it before that work moves forward.
Adonay grew up learning his father's trade. Today, that experience is carried into every project NewGen takes on.
Adonay's father, Jorge, begins in painting and learns the trades one by one, building a career around the work.
He goes on to run his own crews, including work throughout Coronado, and later teaches trade workshops to students.
Adonay grows up around the job sites and learns the work from the ground up: painting first, then drywall, and eventually running jobs himself.
Adonay begins putting the structure behind the business in place and building NewGen into a company of his own.
NewGen becomes a California General Building contractor, able to oversee the multi-trade remodeling and construction projects the company is built around.
Today, NewGen takes on remodels, ADUs, additions, and whole-home projects throughout San Diego County, coordinating the work from the early plans and permits through construction and the final walkthrough.
Adonay.
He comes out for the initial walkthrough, talks through the scope with you, oversees the project, and stays involved through completion. There is no salesperson standing between you and the person responsible for the work.
The story goes back more than thirty years through two generations in the trades.
NewGen itself is the newer chapter. We would rather be clear about that than stretch the company's history to make it sound older than it is. The experience came first. NewGen is what Adonay has built from it.
NewGen holds California General Building Contractor license #1151759.
The California General B classification allows NewGen to contract for and oversee qualifying building projects involving multiple trades, including the type of remodeling, addition, and ADU work we specialize in.
